Panasonic Handy cam – HDC SD-600: A Review

Before starting anything else, let me tell you, if you want an HD Camera with excellent sound, there can be nothing better!

Leaving the SD200’s and HS200’s in the race for the most powerful handy cam, HDC SD-600 takes pride in the fact that its rightful owner can be no one except one who is very keen on and serious about capturing high def movies.

The features this handy cam can boast of is a 12X optical zoom, which has an awesome stereo zoom mic, a 1920X1080 resolution full HD AVCHD recording. It also has 14MP still capability! Wow, now that is some stuff!

Though is a bit heavy for its category, as the designing is round and pretty much robust, and having a dimension of 62X66X126mm, it weighs a light 325 grams without the battery. If you feel the camera will slip out of your hand, don’t worry for just slipping your hand under the strap will ensure that you get a good grip for recording even if you don’t have a tripod with you. But in case you want to add a tripod, a screw fixer is provided at the bottom so that you can install one.

You have the TV/PC out through a separate USB and AV port, and the best part is that there is one more added HDMI output connection for all the updated series of flat screen television or monitors.

How is the performance?

A dedicated handy cam user would ask first of all about the performance of the camera. Well, the manufacturers have claimed that they have replaced the earlier low and light performing processor with a grand Crystal Engine pro processor, which has a sensor sensitivity control that can reduce unwanted noise (read: visible grain) while recording.

Also, the colors are very close to natural and the details sharp, but the feature which is truly stands apart is the audio quality and clarity. There is absolutely no noise or humming effect. If not everything, Panasonic has ensured that it at least adds almost all possible features into this little piece of technological wonder.
